Just playing around

I was looking at some old uni stuff and had a sit down going through seeing where I went wrong and where I could improve. Then I just did it. Still have some more on the way but here is a taster of what I came up with.

The theme was excuses from being late.

It wasn't me....
Sorry I am late...

Lastminute.com

An example from a D&AD Brief I adapted to my Final major project. The advert above is a simple poster design and is one in a series of 9 posters. The rest are coming and so are the concepts for the Ambient media campaign these posters are connected to.

Hopefully the link above should take you to one of the concept scamps however if not they will be on here soon.

It's been a while

The image above is of me playing around with the effects on adobe photo booth.
This is also exactly how I have been for the past few months. I have been feeling very uncreative. I have been doodling and drawing things pleasing to me but nothing of particular relevance to my University projects, especially with the end of the final term looming over the horizon.

So for the past four days I have only allowed my self one night of sleep. Yes I have been forcing myself. But not just working I have been revisiting my influences from college such as Ufho.com, Dave Foldvari and Bigactive, and just generally bouncing around from site to site trying to find something along the lines of the stuff I do.

My main issue I have been having with work (why I have been revisiting things) is because I am trying to come up with an identity for myself. I mean I have had one but wasn't really that good. Really it wasn't.

Money was also an issue. How anyone lives on minimum wage is a mystery to me but the I have been in higher education for 8 years and not even scratched the surface of real life. Here I am rambling and need to get to the point.

Well now I have an idea of what, where I am. Question is I am still stuck on how to project my self (probably not the right word).

Some help would be much appreciated. Links to sites that showcase what others have done, explain methods. I know of Red Lemon and they have really helped. But only with motivation. What I wanna see is ideas for promotion packs, idents, business cards.

If anyone can send me a link I would be much obliged. Oh! And again, sorry for the self indulgent essay on me.

The Angel Series

I just find Angels interesting subjects to draw.

This one I like to call the Path.

The one bellow is called Not Unbreakable. They are meant to be the same Angel.

Some more from my back Catalogue

Here are some of my illustrations that I keep in my little book of madness.

The illustration above I call Escape from Hell.

This one was inspired by the Saw advert, I have not yet decided on a name, just a generic
EYE BITE.

This one is called Clown Spatter Face.

Originally called Grenade this image later changed name to Juice Bang Bang.

My Little Praying Demon Child.

I just call this one Cute.

And here we have an illustration that after drawing it I realised it looks like Rik, fellow student in my year.

Angry jumping Demon thing.

One example of me trying to branch into fashion design. This was inspired again by Rob Zombie and his Fashion from the White Zombie years.

And this is the illustration I on the jacket.

This is Dread head. This image was inspired by a few Rob Zombie images from album covers.

My Back Catalogue

This was the first single cover. Everything on the album was hand done, the type, arrangement and obviously he illustration.

The above illustration was for the New Cassettes Promo.

First up some stuff form my A level Fine Art years in Sixth form:

For our packaging Brief I chose to design the surface graphics for a new brand of energy by Relentless. I based it on the tae Brand Coca cola has and thought this would be a fun to have a go.

And here is the alternative flavour. Their would have been more but time was not on my side.

Just some doodles

Just one of the many characters. Loosely based on Jamie Hewlettes, Gorillaz style.

A couple of my little monsters drawn free hand with shaded marker pens.

Another of my little Demons or Gremlins. I have no idea what they are. I just draw them.

Just another monster.

The Giant Monkey again. I thought maybe I could use him for something else.

Here are a few characters I came up with just before starting the third year of University. From left to right: Fluffy, Angry snail(couldn't think of a decent enough name, Ash (spontaneously Combusts a lot), Mat Ttress (er he is a mattress), Random blob thing, And in the back is the Giant Monkey.

This is just an idea I had in my head and decided to go ahead and create. Penguin books may take interest, for wrong reasons maybe. The name is a combination of Owell and Penguin. Originally the image was shorter and compressed and was meant to be an Owell.
For this Brief we were required to make a photograph with out using editorial software. This was to allow us to experiment more with lighting and positioning.

The image above is the front cover for my made up album. The Props used were: One blank mask (The Violin pattern was hand painted with Acrylic), One blue velvet rag, and my little brothers Violin. Again kept it simple and managed to get a pleasing result.

Stamp Brief Finals. We were to design a new range of ltd edition stamps that featured images displays of alternate sources energy. As you can see I chose a fairly simple style.

This is just one of a few of my little doodles. This by far is the most detailed and originaly drawn in an A5 sketch book.
